Tonight, on The Strong Stance, we are re-living the show that set the tone for all the episodes that followed. Tune in at 9pm Eastern for our frank discussion of Privilege In All Its (Trans)Formations. This is one where Annise Mabry and I definitely keep it real.
This issue goes beyond mere ignorance.
"Williamson’s grasp of “the biological facts of life” is no different than pointing to the rising and setting of the sun as as clear evidence that the earth is the center of the universe. Transgender people aren’t lies in the face of facts; we’re facts that widen the truth."
Poet, essayist Maya Angelou died Wedneseday at the age of 86, according to reports in her hometown of Winston-Salem, N.C.

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."
In general, many people find the topic of sexual assault extremely uncomfortable to discuss, but it’s imperative that we have the conversation. Given that we don’t shy away from difficult topics on The Strong Stance, we are going to tackle this issue head on. Join us as we speak to Nicole Armstead and Christa Heilman from the Network for Victim Recovery of D.C. about the resources for survivors of sexual assault and the unique experiences of those that are trans* and gender non-conforming.

First Book, a nonprofit organization, connects book publishers and community organizations to provide access to new books for children in need.
Alabama folks: LISTEN UP!! There’s a great organization called First Book looking for warehouse space in Alabama. The warehouse would be used to give out books for free to organizations that are registered with them, which are usually nonprofits and schools that are title I or have more than 70% kids low-income. If you have space to donate, or know someone who might, hit me up and I can put you in contact with someone there. More info in the link.
